FB Selects Children's Book Winner
A story
describing how three generations of a family work together to
make maple syrup is the winner of the 2002 Ohio Farm Bureau Federation
Award for Children's Literature. "Sugarbush Spring"
is authored by Marsha Wilson Chall and illustrated by Jim Daly.
Designed
to recognize a children's book that is considered to be a distinguished
contribution to American literature, the award is given annually
by OFBF. Books are nominated by OFBF members, librarians and
publishers and reviewed by a selection committee. Nominated books
are judged based on having an agricultural theme, having been
published during the preceding two-year period and other criteria.
OFBF also
has created an "Honors List" of other agricultural-themed
books for children. The list includes books nominated for this
year's award along with other recently published books. The list
is available on the OFBF Web site at www.ofbf.org.
